During the summer of 2010, due to Lighthouse Lacrosse’s increased program participation and overall growth, we felt it would be beneficial to explore a design refresh, and also to upgrade the structure of the site to allow for easier management for the client. Lighthouse Lacrosse agreed with that assessment. The overall design needed to be tweaked to reflect the Long Island area beach culture, and also to make better use of the color scheme that was being regularly used on print products and in Lighthouse Lacrosse apparel.

We went with a lighter, fresher color palette and attempted to keep the design interesting and exciting while maintaining content readability. We also decided to customize a WordPress CMS template in order to keep the content of the site easily editable for the client. The biggest challenge in working with the CMS was creating separate template and layout structures for the boys and girls sides of the site. We wanted to provide a different look and menu structure for each side that would help guide a user to where they wanted to be.
